A Close Encounter

For those of you old enough to remember “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” by Steven Speilberg (1977) you may remember that the aliens were going to arrive at a prominent landmark, Devils Tower in Wyoming. This is what we went to visit. The 1970s were the days when Aliens were friendly, with Close Encounters and “ET”. Alas by the late 1970s and 1980s the Aliens had got dangerous with “Alien” and its sequels and in the 1990s “Independence Day”

My first thought was–Jaysus! Close Encounters came out the year after my husband was born!

    • Judy says:

Wow, I hadn’t realised he was so young, David. I was 16 when it came out – can’t think why I haven’t seen it.

  2. Harry says:

I would expect you donned the shorts and scaled this little mother Greg, no doubt some excellent shots from the top!

    • Judy says:

Well, the shorts and singlet were already on, but time constraints sadly prevented Greg from scaling it. Would have been amazing from the top. We have just been to Mt Rushmore and as we were leaving we noticed a couple with a heap of climbing gear. Lots of good climbing around Rushmore, I don’t think they were actually planning on climbing that particular rock.

  3. Char says:

Another favourite movie…my how the years fly by

    • Judy says:

Ok Char – here’s another one for you. Well, a mini-series actually. Lonesome Dove. We’re heading to Ogallala, Nebraska, ‘cos we both love Lonesome Dove.
