Cooking dinner camped in a forest in Lapland Finland, still above the Arctic circle

Is the reindeer meat from wild animals or is it farmed ?
I think the animals are wild, but herded. If that makes sense. The Sami herd them, but as far as I know they don’t farm them. The reindeer we have seen just seem to wander wherever they please, but somehow the Sami keep track of them.
I have seen on TV recently where the reindeer are herded up for the winter . A little like the wild horses here in the New Forest which are allowed to wander anywhere but they are all owned by somebody. Don’t like to idea of reindeer meat balls out of are tin or otherwise, You can understand the magic of Lapland in the snow Judy, which is now very popular with tourist x
We drove through Kemi yesterday and after we had passed through I realised that was where they build the Ice Castle with the Ice Hotel each winter. It would have been good to see where it gets built, and apparently each year it’s different. http://www.snowcastle.net/en/homepage/
There are a few other Ice Hotels around Scandinavia too, according to Google.
Seen programmes on TV about the ice hotels . Not for me Judy , as I suffer from extreme cold feet all the time .But it looks rather exciting xx
