Don’t go to Russia! There are plenty of other interesting, civilised, friendly countries in the world to take your tourist dollars to.

Hi Helen, we made the silly assumption that our visas were valid for 30 days from the date of entry. A few lessons learnt – don’t assume, double check everything and (possibly) don’t go to Russia!

Ohmygod! You two! Indeed you WILL laugh about this—often and for many many years to come. (I have to admit when I read that the only way you could leave the country was to be deported I let out a large morning guffaw!) I met you the morning after your first night in New York after your (spits loudly now) “hotel” dissed you, and you came up shining–as you will after this! And lord knows–blinis and borscht! There are a helluva lot worse last meals!

I did actually see one steam train sitting on the rails. It wasn’t running. Our guide book says there are still 300 working steam trains in Russia still. There certainly are lots of steam trains on display at railway stations.

We haven’t seen many Chinese/Asians. It still surprises us how anglo/European everyone looks even in Siberia.

Glen I used Windows Live Movie Maker which came with the windows 7 laptop. I can say its pretty good – easy to edit even in a rocking and rolling trains!
